another question about my bass when i have the cable plugged in and something nudges it, it will make a pop sound. does this mean i need to tighten the jack or is it a problem with the jack itself and needs to get replaced. is it possible that the cable is the wrong size? because it has some play in the jack.

B.C. Rich warlock
Washburn RB-2502

It could be all of the above. How much play is in the jack? there should be only minimal. You can tell if the jack is loose because the nut on the outside is loose, or you can manually just jiggle it to see if it is firm. If it is loose you can just tighten it a little, if you want it to never come use again, use some loctite (but not the stuff that needs a blowtorch to get it off). The main thing is make sure you are using a proper guitar/bass lead first. I can be normal to get a pop sound when you bump the jack, it all depends on how much it is doing so.
hope that helps.
