Washburn N2 serial number

(1/2) > >>

Rangio:

Hello and greetings from Italy! I am new to the forum..good to be with You all! I really love washburn guitars, specially the N series....could anyone please help me with the serial of my N2?
I have purchased the guitar a few years ago: the backplate says 1111504 but i could not retrieve any information about that serial. Could You tell me when it was crafted and where?

Thank You!

ZeGlobox:
Well.. usually the first number(s) is the year... so it's either 1991 or 2001... And I think that 2001 would be 01111504, with the leading '0' allowing to differenciate (my 2003 one has a 03xxxxxx serial)... So my guess would be 1991, which is good, very good, cause the first batches of Corean N2s were really really good compared to current chinese models, which, I've been told (by many), are far inferior...

But I must admit that I'm not an actual N2 specialist...

Hi! Thank You for Your answer! 1991 is the same year i was told from washburn's customer support a few days ago, so it must be it! Actually they told me it is an early prototype model as it did not appear in catalogs until about 1993!
That's great![:D]

Unfortunately I have not played an N4 yet (they were pretty rare here in italy, since a few months ago...guess the reunion is somehow related to their increased presence on the market [;)]) but being playing  since 1992 i can tell this is one of the best guitars i have ever tried. Got it a set of grover tuners, an original floyd rose and a genuine Bill Lawrence L500  to increase its performances: now the guitar sounds and plays like a dream.
Its neck is unbelievable: comfortable and very, very fast. Best neck so far, for me.

Thank You again

All the best

Actually... N2 were mass produced during 91, so I wouldn't qualify it as a prototype.
The very early models had the Fake Stephen's extended cutaway with Nuno written on it...

Other than that.. Early N2s where excellent... Especially compared with todays' Chinese N2s which are.. ***coughing loud here***

Thank You again...You seem to be pretty informed on N2 as well! My specimen has no fake Stephen's extended cutaway, just a bolt on neck...i've never heard about those models: that is interesting, i wish i could see one.
The guitar is truly amazing, specially after being upgraded. If all of the earlier models were like that i might consider buying a second one, should i find it (even if i think i will go for an N4 first...)
