Well Washburn fans I like to think (like most of us) that I can spot a good instrument when I see one, and to be honest this make of guitar was never on my list of early 80's Japanese made copies worth trying. In fact back in the early days I used to feel sorry for players that couldn't afford a proper instrument and finished up with one of these Cheapo guitars. Well how wrong can you be???
Long story short, was GIVEN this last week by an elderly female neighbour who has noticed me going by carrying a guitar. Refused point blank to take any payment for it, just glad to get it out of her spare room as it was gathering dust and nobody she knew played....
It's a Hondo 2 Les Paul copy (I know what you're thinking) Flippin' 'eck i'd be glad to get rid of that Well you'd be wrong!!!
This thing sounds great!! DiMarzio pups, three way switch one tone one volume knob simplicity itself. It's not got a scratch or even a pick mark on it, solid wood, and it came in it's original case.
Guys check it out, and don't take my word for it if you get a chance to play one of these put your pre-conceptions on the back burner and plug it in. You may be surprised.

I wish my neighbours would stump up some new gear for me!  All I think I will get is a pet cat though.
Nice looking guitar CB.

Hi N4, nobody was more surprised than me, these things don't usually happen to me either and if the truth be known if anyone had asked me about this make of guitar before this i'd have said Don't bother mate, they're terrible The back control cover plate was actually nailed on with four small large head tacks !!! There were no screw holes so it must have come from the factory like that. There's no shielding inside the cavity and the strap buttons were totally the wrong shape to safely keep any normal strap on. But saying all that the flippin' thing (After a set up) plays and sounds great. Just looked on ebay and the same model as this has a starting price of $80+$25 Postage. If you've got time check it out 'cos the cover plate is missing and you can see the cavity exactly the same as mine.

Best described as Clumsy but strangely comfortable
I don't do an awful lot of work that end, but it's very similar to an old USA Strat I sold You can get to the upper reaches but it involves a twist of the wrist and precision Always thought that as i'm never going to play in front of thousands, no need to be too precise just wack a bottleneck on yer finger (if you're intending on going that far up the neck) and wing it. At a small or Pub gig that also gives the young budding guitarist sitting watching your every move in the front something to moan about to his mates 'cos Santana didn't use a slide when he played it Don't ya just love to hear that??? My stock answer to ANYONE saying that sort of critiscism is  Hey mate if I copied it note for note i'd have to pay royalties That shuts 'em up !!!!
