Yer Dugliness,

Sorry for late reply and no photos yet. Spent last night shovelling great jeezly mounds of newfallen snow out of my driveway. Not quite Texas today!

So here's a daylight shot of top grain detail and another of top binding detail on the WG2S. Very sweet workmanship! Left the shots large so you can see. Threw in a few smaller shots of great jeezly, heapin' mounds of backbreaking snow . . . another foot coming on Tuesday. I think Southern Ontario's even worse than the Maritimes this year. Have a great Texas day, Dugly.

As a matter of fact, I want to go skiing tomorrow and that's exactly what I'm going to do. First run out, early morning, on a crisp bed of new snow - just about perfect!

Just think of me shovelling all that stuff out of my driveway before I go to work on Monday morning. That should help. Pleasure to meet you BlueBuddha.

SNOW SNOW SNOW , is it March Yet okay guys we do love the SNOW here in Ontario  but only for a short time , Here it is on a Saturday night and is it blowing  I mean really blowing out , the drifts across the roads almost pull your vehicle into the ditch , it's no fun when you are trying to get from one place to another anyways I made it home safely again I live about 62 km's from work and this winter has not been fun , maybe it's that I'm getting older as well can't take the Canadian winters anymore oh well there's always FLORIDA for six months of the year, hey there is tons of musicians done around Zepherhills that I would love to be jamming with every day in the sun , love the  new pics of the WG2S it's a   BEUT  ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;strings

Gorgeous instrument, cedwards!  I'm not generally a fan of ivoroid bindings, but in this case it merges quite seamlessly with the banding on that abalone purfling......way too cool, IMHO.  The inlay on the headstock sure is nice, too.

As for the tonewood on the soundboard, I'd say most definitely cedar.  That closeup of the upper bout was great--the graining is a direct match for the cedar on my Epiphone Masterbilt as well as a couple of lesser quality classical guitars I own.

Cedar seems to me to provide two benefits over spruce--there is a sense of immediacy about cedar, sort of an escalated expressivity mixed with accellerated projection, that is quite nice, and cedar also imparts a sweetness to the tone.  It's not as precise in the trebble range as is spruce, and it overdrives easily, but as a fingerstyle guitar, I mean that looks to me to be one quite nice piece [^] [:D] !

Have you tried it with the Silk & Steel strings?  I bet that would be one incredible combo.....[:p]

So I'm probably going to shock and dismay you by saying that I do very little fingerstyle on this. No so accomplished at that (though I can squeeze off a passable version of Garnet Roger's take on Mary Chapin-Carpenter's This Shirt (check it out) and a couple of Bruce Cockburn's older turns. Mostly flatpick playing but I've been doing it long enough to be approaching adequacy.

I just know I love the warmth of this guitar along with its brightness on the treble end and its unbeleivable harmonic sustain. It rings forever. Haven't tried Silk & Steel but will investigate.

Indeed I am! Good session with best guitar buddy on Friday night. Spent last night working on the second song in the video below: Joel Plaskett, Natural Disaster. Check it out. Plaskett's new CD, Three is just about to come out and he's touring cross Canada (and US - bunch of acoustic sets in various spots around Memphis). Great songwriter & a top shelf band. I expect big things.

How about yourself? Same as in NB - play, work, shovel, play, work, shovel, shovel, shovel, shovel?

Strings,

A question for you too. Has the top of your WG2S changed shape at all over the years? Mine has a very slight upward bowing behind the bridge. I pay fair attention to keeping humidity controlled but, I have to admit, I like to leave the guitar out on its stand so it begs me to play. I use medium light (.011) strings. Seen anything similar? Thoughts?
