Egnator Pickups
« on: March 17, 2009, 11:06:20 AM »
I have just bought a Washburn Idol that has active Egnator pickups in it. I got a very good deal from my local shop. I cant find the same guitar anywhere else. I can find similar Idol guitars but none with the Egnator pickups. Anyone have any info on them? They were loads better than the EMG's I tried on another Washburn.
Cheers.

I have my '08 HM50V with those same Egnater active pups.  I love 'em.  And the beauty is they are not only made for metal.  I get some of the best blues tones out of that HM.  I wonder how many Washburns came with these pups?  As far as I know yours and mine are the only ones.  I'me sure there are others but I haven't seen 'em.

I had a change of heart with mine. Had the same model, but when I left work I took it back to the shop and upgraded to a new WI66ANC. Can I be cheeky and ask how much you paid for it? My local shop is selling it for $389, I still cant find any info on them.

Thanks guys!  Naw, the board is clean as a whistle.  I used a really really bright flash and that is how the pic turned out.  Got her for around 5 bills.

Hey arykala, how would you descride the passive Egnators?  I'm curious.  Also, why aren't Egnator pickups advertised and why is so little info available about them?  All I know is I'm way impressed with my actives and I think many other folks would be to.  Anyway, heres how mine sounds.

They're quite bright in this guitar, and VERY hot. This guitar gives me the most issue with hum when recording via the computer as the pickups are pretty sensitive.

Have a nose at :Fickle Freedom: on my myspace (myspace.com/desd1nova) for the Washburn with egnaters, and compare to :Given: which is my Ibanez Radius

I find the Egnater pickups in this guitar make it real easy to get a new style VH tone!
