Pickguard on D46 SPK

I was just given a D46 SPK (1st Washburn)for Father's Day and it came without a pickguard?  Does it need one?  It has a high gloss finish. If so any suggestions for shape, color and/or make?  Thanks.

You really don't need a pickguard. Alot of the time it's a cosmetic thing. On my Greg Bennet, It's in such a weird spot, it really doesn't do anything.

   The D-46 SPK doesn't come with a pick guard.....I don't think any of the D-46 series have pick guards.[:)]

My D46 does not have a pick guard..and the thing is so beautiful, I would not want it to have one either.

Welcome to the forum.  As you've already heard, the D46S does not have a pickguard.  Some players feel strongly a pickguard negatively affects the guitars tone and/or volume.  Not sure I buy that, but I would not suggest adding one.

FWIW I used to have a D46, which I enjoyed a lot.  Very bright, crisp sound with lots of sustain.

Love to see some pictures.

These are nice looking and sounding guitars. A fellow was playing one amplified at last month's World beat Festival, sounded great!

I have a D47s and I removed my pickguard. I think they all look better without :)

Ok, so I'm LOOKING at a D46 SPK for 350.  I'm VERY new to the whole Washburn experience but am very excited to jump on board.  I recently purchased a Washburn J58 SW and LOOOOVE everything about it.  What is everyone's opinion of the D 46 SPK?
