Hot to make my N2 look new?
« on: June 29, 2009, 12:21:36 PM »
I have tried carnauba wax as everyone suggested but i still dont have the shine it used to have.

Using other polishes will get me that shine but that everyone rejects.

My frn who also has an N2 used shoe shine on his axe and it makes it look brand new!!

HELP!!!

Dude, All that i can say is that N's aren't supposed to look pristine! My N2 has so many little nicks, scratches and dents in it... It gives the guitar character! That's why i hate Les Pauls.. You always see a beat-up strat etc.. But never a Paul..

All In All: Don't bother, man, not worth it.

Just my two cents.

The small, but mighty collection:
Washburn N2
Barracuda Strat Copy (awesome sound)
Art & Lutherie Acoustic
Greg Bennet D-5 Acoustic(Solid top, Grovers, Mahogany on rest of body, Guess how much I payed?)

While i've no idea how to make it shine, i just needed to disagree with the above.

An N should look however it's owner wants it to look!!! He's paid his hard earned cash for it, if he wants blue stripes on it then that's up to him!!!!

IMHO that is probably more true of an N than any other guitar, certainly from what you read on this forum, the amount of mods and variations on one guitar is amazing!!!!

I polish my N4 religiously, every day to keep it shiney. but i polish it with my arm when i'm playing it.

play more, worry less, rock harder.

Fair enough guys, I just like my guitars to have a little character, where I accept nicks and dents, I absolutely hate dust! Means i ain't playing them enough =p

And, high_number, An N4 with stripes, Natural is the way to rock 'em!

Fair enough, Fair enough. I like my axes to have a few beatings, means that I have used 'em and abused 'em.

On a side note, Do you own an N4 there high_number? If so, pics =)

I own half an N4, got myself a little project going on!!!

It's going slowly, getting bits as money allows.

There are various pics in the uk section (i'm using my phone for this, too much hassle to go find a link for you)

Thinking about it some more, without refinishing it you'll struggle to get a shine, from the factory it comes with a matt finish!!!!

you could always fully overhaul it take it apart, clean it, sand it, re oil it, buff to a new shine ETC. its a big job, one i seem to be doing o more and more of my guitars!

(just started stripping the gloss of my acoustics neck, ready for some oil)
