to oil it you would need to sand it, to getthe laquer/varnish off.

once that's off and it's nice and smooth this allows the wood to absorb the oil and creates a lovely finish on it.

here's one that i did

if you do do it, i'd advise geting a small orbital sander to help along the way!!

Ey, sanding back and having oil instead of a sealed finish is sooooo much better.

Use 400-600 grit wet n dry paper to get the body looking 'clean'.  Make sure youve got clean hands when you start aswell. Put plenty of oil on (I use danish oil) and let it dry for 6-12 hrs, then put another coat on and let it dry.  Once youve got a nice even finish with the oil, sand it with 600 grit paper again VERY lightly to get the oily sheen off.

Then get yuour wax (I use a mix bee's wax and carnauba called 'briwax') and rub it in.  You can get a really good sheen off the wax if you keep on polishing it.
if you cant afford it, build it
