Installing a push / pull pot in N4 question
« on: December 31, 2009, 10:18:52 AM »
Hello. I want to install a push / pull pot in my '95 N4 and opened it up last night to peek around a bit. I've done a bunch of rewiring on my Fender Stratocaster where there's a ton of room under the pickguard.  Not much room inside the N4. With the stock  wiring everything from the pickups runs up to the 3 way switch and then the two wires come off the 3 way and go thru to the volume pot. Looking at the diagram for the push pull many of the pickup wires will need to go to the pot. At least in mine there doesn't seem like enough room to run the wires from both pickups from the cavity for the 3 way down thru to the volume pot. To those that have done this any tips? Did you have to make the path from 3 way cavity to pot cavity any larger? Thanks for any help.

hi Texgrind

i've done the push pull to my paddy N4, i just used some hook-up wire to extend the wire for the coils to the pot, the hole through the guitar was more than big enough

I installed my push/pull with no problems. ZeGlobox was nice enough to put up a great n4 page. I followed the instructions here:

Just wanted to follow up...thank you to all for the help. I put the push/pull pot in along with the new pickups. I put Suhr dsv pickups in the bridge & neck.  They sound great, exactly what I was looking for...very open sounding and the bridge isn't so harsh anymore. The push/pull pot really gives it some added versatility. Thanks again.
