I think the proportions look better with the rings on, but Im not keen on the chrome mate.  

Order a new set of slim black steel ones from axesrus, $9 a pair but they never split [:)]
if you cant afford it, build it

Personally, I prefer the N3 without the rings; the rings are not awful though..remind me of some Yamaha RGXs [:)]
