I play church/inspirational music almost exclusively.  I also like to dabble in classical and play some jazz styles.  I like bluegrass, too.  I've played for about 32 years or so, but in many of these years I neglected the guitar, and focused on the piano instead.

In high school I played Saxophone, and that is where my music education basis began.  I started guitar, as I mentioned elsewhere, at 14.  I have no formal guitar or piano education.  I DO read music, and compose symphonic, orchestral, and other scores; I've had the pleasure of writing music for a number of plays for a local theatre and for plays done at church.

I play electric bass, piano, and now, guitar for church.  Our musical styles include hymns, inspirational, classical, old pentecostal, bluegrass, Southern Gospel, and some contemporary music.  There are all kinds of odd types thrown in there, too, like some Jewish and other ethnic music.  Very interesting!  We DO NOT stick to 3 chord rotations!  Many of our songs have very complex and beautiful chord structures in them, hence, my desire to master them on guitar.

Of course, I use my D10SCE to play, and love it.  I use Martin Marquis Light gauge strings almost exclusively.  I fell in love with them years ago on my 12 string.  I'm sure there are other brands that are good, it's just what I use.

Personally,I don't know a lot of songs, but i do approximations of Gordon Lightfoot,Jim Croce,James Taylor, and some traditional east coast type stuff(only slower),Eagles slow stuff,Bob Seger, and some obscure Canadiana. On my third attempt I dicovered Elixir strings for my D10s12.If you have a D10s12,I dare you to play Southern Cross by Crosby,Stills, and Nash on it,and then try to make ANY other guitar sound right playing it.My best friend is three times the player I am,and fully agrees with me.
Peace/out!!All mechanics are incognito music stars!
