Beautiful, Shaulin.

What are the p'ups?

Compare her to your other Idols: weight, sound, playability.

Hows the Satin neck?

the pups are regular WI568, custom custom in the bridge and 59 in the neck
weight: feather weight, my PI80 is a tank, it's pretty close to my WI64 but still lighter
sound: not my cup of tea, I prefer higher output pickups, the custom custom is crunchy but miss a lot of bottom end in my opinion
playability: best so far on my Idols, much much slimmer than the PI80 (which is a fat wide neck) and a wee bit bigger than the WI64

as for the satin finish, I love it, I'm already used to it from my WI64 (which had a very smooth satin finish) and from my Paduak
neck guitars (N4 and Warmoth Soloist), this one has a some what different feel to it, you feel the wood texture.

the only issue I have with this guitar is the case, in that department, Washburn can't seem to get it right
this case is the best I got so far with my USA guitar, but still not perfect, this case is more suited to thicker body guitars
so without some support underneath the body, the neck doesn't settle on both rests, which could have caused a break during shipping
they also added a humidity gauge, which wasn't installed correctly and was touching the neck, which could have cause damage if
the guys at Funky Munky didn't add protection to it (which they did!), but still, the first thing I did was to remove it, had to
yank it out since it was glued, now I have an ugly spot in the case, but the neck is safe.

excellent guitar, looks gorgeous, best Idol I own so far.

Good review, thanks.

What are your plans for the p'ups?

Lighter than your WI-64? Korean?

How would you compare it to an SG, weight wise?

I see you also have a Les Paul Studio. What pickups do you have in that? (trying to get a sense of what you go for sound wise.)

The reason I ask is that I'm considering this guitar myself. I've got a WI-67, which I love. I recently started messing around with a USA Strat, and found I love the satin neck and the belly contour, and it seems that this Satin Idol is my dream guitar, giving me the best of both worlds. I didn't count on it being lighter weight than my -67.

Thanks for sharing.

I'll probably change them to another set of Bareknuckles, either Miracle Man or NailBomb, not sure yet
wee bit lighter than the WI64, I know the WI64 is Nato, not Mahogany, maybe that's a denser wood.
never played an SG, so I can't compare the two.
the Studio has a Leslie West pickup in the bridge, and a dummy pickup.
I usually put high output pickups in my guitars, .the X50 has a PAF set and the X33 it's original Washburn Shaman single coils.

its not lighter than the WI67 since yours is a semi hollow, the WI568 is solid body.

If you like the contours, I say go for the N4, if weight is an issue, than this WI568 can be the wise choise, but make sure
you check the weight with the dealer before buying, they usually vary in weights.
