Donegan is a great player, but the Maya was a little bit out there and with Washburn lack of
proper marketing, it didn't have a chance.

or he simply got a better offer (my guess ESP or Dean)

I didn't like that shape personally but PRS are nice guitars and that's what he played before. I guess artist don't usually go back to companies they've already been at, except Paul Stanley I guess!! I know it's all about $$$ these days and not loyalty. on both sides. Unless you are marshall who supposedly don;t give anything to anybody.

I've always thought the the Maya series was a more tasteful design than it ever got credit for.  The flame maple topped and satin finished models were very tempting, although the lower bout of the body should've been a bit more rounded.

When they started with the motorcycle flames finishes and bullet inlays, I was turned off.  Plus, I've never liked signature models or really much of anything Disturbed's done after they ditched the sequencer and all their songs started sounding alike...

It's more like this:

Washburn: OK, Nick and Dan, we'll make you a signature model but it'll only be available in a high end US custom shop model that most dealers won't carry because they're glutting the racks with X30s and the occasional WI64.  But don't worry, because people can still order one through them!

PRS/Schecter: Hey guys, we'll make you a one-off from our custom shop and then make a lower end verison with about the same specs and general design, and we'll get it into every Guitar Center in the world, so people can actually try them out!

I've got a USA DD81 and it is simply awesome.

Artists go to different companies for one reason usually....$$$$.... They don't call it the music buisness for nothing. Besides, with people basically stealing the music these musicians make, they must have to do other things to make money. ie: Jumping from Guitar company to guitar company.

i own a usa dd70  it came with  a set of distortion humbuckers from duncan . neck is to muddy and bassy and the neck is week. I threw in a set of duncan super humbuckers this thing screams . Neck threw ;nice neck ;simplicity at its best and at 368 new . I had the duncans . I have a black one. Like i said the neck is unique. Fatter then any of my washburns. To the gentlemen before me who stated this is the music business. musicians lend their name to anything its all about the money. Don;t kid yourself.ertle
