I am going to look at a what is claimed to be a D10  (no letters afterwards) 12 string w/o electronics...I think I can potentially pick this up for like 80 bucks...Now my question is: I see 2 12 strings for sale new on Amazon, one being a Washburn D10 Series 12 String Acoustic Guitar for like $400 and the other a D10S Series 12 String Acoustic Guitar that looks and specs the same but is a little cheaper....I know what the S means but what does it mean when there is NO letter after number?
Post Note:  I went to see it...huge crack all the across the lower part of neck...huge...a phillips head screw drilled into that baby...unrepairable...trailer trash crap...and it was nothing like the online D10's...very old and trashed...none of this was disclosed...no model or serial number anywhere...gold plated tuners...no binding at all...I drove many miles to see it...the nerve of some folks!!...

Okay look at any $80 anything before you buy it.

Talk about nerve. Did you really think an $80 used guitar would look like or be like the $400 new guitar version?  But you are consistent. I especially like your technique of using the EDIT button to bump your posts.  Got any catalog pictures to post?

D10-I ??? Re: D10 Letter Designations
« Reply #37 on: September 22, 2013, 06:25:23 PM »
I have a D10-I serial number 97125846 (no letters in the serial number) that a friend bought in 1998 and I bought from him about a year latter. I have scoured the internet and this forum (even posted this question here about 3 years ago and got no responses) and haven't come up with much. I think the 97 at the beginning of the serial number means it was built in 1997 (sounds about right if purchased new in 1998), but that's all i have been able to figure out. There are tons of posts about the various other models but no one seems to say anything about the D10-I!!! From owning and playing it for 14 years I can make an educated guess as to some of its features: solid spruce/pine top?, solid mahogany sides and back? Some features are obvious: classic dreadnought shape, no electronics.

I love this guitar. It sounds brighter, fuller and projects much better than my dads Martin (thought the Martins tone and action are much nicer). I don't think my friend payed a whole lot for this guitar seeing as he sold it to me with a nice hard case for $100. I would be surprised if it were a special edition or limited release, but then again I just don't know...

PLEASE HELP ME END MY LONG LASTING SEARCH!

 :) ;) :D ;D

That is a 1997 D10 all laminated Dread, guitar.  97 should be made in Korea. Does it have Grover brand tuners, if so than it is Korea.  Don't know for sure what the I stands for, if it was before the numbers it would be Indo.  I have , and have had,  some of the best D10 series made, and no solid back or sides. IMHO & lots of others, the D10 series is the best sounding and playing mid level guitar around.  Tom. :)

I have a WD-10NS. Does anyone know what NS means?
Does it have a "sunburst" finish on the soundboard? For example, a Tobacco Sunburst finish would be "TS".
Most often the "N" denotes natural finish...but a 'burst finish is different.
A wd10 with solid wood soundboard and natural finish would be a WD10SN.
Maybe someone else will chime in...doesn't seem to follow the normal pattern of model designation.

Cheers!
