Has anyone had the opportunity to play one of these? If so, can you give me your honest opinion on them, pros..cons, comparison to others etc.. I am looking at them online, there are none in my area.

Thanks,

Hi there rainydayman are you sure you have the right model, I don't recall the J58SW ever having electrics on board and hope you know that they are no longer being made,
Maybe you can post a link to the dealer so we can have a gander also.Ship

The SWE has electronics, here are the specs.
Washburn J58SWE Timbercraft Maple Jumbo Acoustic/Electric Guitar w/case Features:
Solid spruce top
Solid flame maple sides and back
Mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard
Bone nut & saddle
Rosewood butterfly bridge
Tortoise shell pickguard
Maple binding
Rosewood headstock veneer
Gloss finish
Chrome Grover 18:1 gear ratio tuners
Abalone rosette
PLUS we added a BBand™ tape mic & preamp to this  Jumbo . The BBand™ system will give you the closest tone to a mic’d acoustic you can get on stage. The Jumbo body with solid spruce top sounds awesome unplugged as well.
CASE INCLUDED

Thanks,

That's just P-Hill... they tossed a BBand into a B-stock J58 and self-designated it a J58SWE. They want $2200 for it... Based on it being a P-Hill offering, I'd ask a bunch of questions if I were you.

Well if they added a B-Band that doesn't make it a J58-SWE, sorry rainydayman I am not meaning to rain of your dreams but only Washburn can call it that and they never mader one to the very best of my knowledge and going through all of my cataloge's I can't find any listed.
I would wonder if this was a return by someone who installed the B-Band system, kind of unusal for a store to do that.

Is this the one you have been eye balling, the J-58 is a very nice guitar, just ask a whole bunch of questions like if it was aB-stock guitar and whatever else you can think of and if you are sure , go for it $500.00 at the start is a great price. As long as no one else bids on it.Ship.............. forgot to mention with the modifications Washburn might not Warranty the guitar.

Dear psavant,

Hi:
This is brand new and the electronics were put in by Washburn . It still has the full warranty. It is not a B stock guitar. Thanks for the interest. Jeff

I would call Washburn as they don't ever have any J-58SWE listed they have a toll free number 1-800-877-6863 ( customer service and ask them about that )and maybe direct them to the link where it says that P-Hill placed the B-Band in •PLUS we added a BBand™ tape mic & preamp to this  Jumbo . The BBand™ system will give you the. { quote from the e-bay site }  , they say on the listing that they added it, so do be careful here I smell something funny and if you don't want to take a chance they are also sell one with out the electronics for the same price.Ship

Well just to take it further I checked with Washburn Customer service and they informed me that it might be one of their proto-types sent out to see what response they get from the market, but they don't know for sure and checked with P-Hill and there take was that it was misreported asnd misleading, they did not put in the B-Band according to them.So I hope it works out for you rainydayman I have always wanted to add a J-58SW to my collection also, but the wife has put the brake's  on me for a while, especially after she found out about my last several guitars I purchased ( a few of the EA series ).Ship

Thanks ship, for everything. I had a Washburn back in the early 80's, lower end model, but I liked it, my taste in music is changing some, so I thought I would get another acoustic. I just bought a Guild GAD 30R that I liked, I liked the tone. I have always liked Washburn...SWE is out for sure, maybe the SW is the ticket. Are you in White Rock/Surrey area? Pat
