Anyone here use Flat wound strings on their mando?
If so, how did you like them, Is there a big difference?
Price,[do they cost more] do they last as long as your normal strings.
I would like to try them, but not sure.
also can you get the in any brand..if not what brand would you suggest?

sorry for another String post lads, But I find the answers I get here really do influence some of the new things I try . Like strings, picks, condoms...LOL

Price?  Take your pick:

Or:

Never have used them, I use J74's, $3.99/set from The Mandolin Store, on everything. Not because I know that they are the best, I just hate changing strings to find something to replace something that works for me.

Dawg uses them so they have to be good enough for me.[;)]

I predict it will take at least two generations for me to outgrow them.[:D][:D][:D]

I use D'Addario EJ70's and EJ74's and have been for the pass 15 yrs.
But the flat wound are interesting to me..I know there's a 90% chance I will not use them, but I'll try anything once.
Then again, I changed to a harder pick because on conversations we have had here and I Like it...LOL

The main reason I've avoided flat wound strings is that they are supposed to eliminate the squeak when you slide up the neck.

The noise sends chills up my wife's neck and she leaves me alone.
