What about some Bluegrass music
« Reply #60 on: October 18, 2010, 09:19:44 AM »
cheers Merlin. I've been waiting for a review. And if RYAN  likes it (sorta), I'm gettin' it.
It's been awhile. Just busy living fellas. Too much to think about, much less to write about. My baby daughter is graduating from high school in a few weeks. How'd that happen?
I have been totally immersed in this album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PYKmvx-Lms&feature=related
for the last month or so. Songwriting doesn't get much better than this, my dream band would sound something like this, with a little banjo, fiddle and dobro thrown in for good measure. the mandolin on this album is just perfect.
Anybody know what type of mando is being played? The album i got has no information. it has a lower regester than mine. Mandocello?

Junior, good music knows no boundaries.

svgustin, yeah John Hiatt is good stuff!
be careful with that new steeldrivers album.  I have got some strange looks singing to this song in the car... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZrKTz8iUwU
song for song there will not be a better album released this year in any genre, too bad the music industry(awards) just recognize the music teenage girls listen too.

oh yeah, congrats on getting your daughter this far.  I can not imagine raising a teenage girl.

ok,
a couple weeks ago I had one of the best music nights ever.
i saw Mumford and Sons.
is there any Mumford and Sons fans out there?  if you don't know them check them out.  they are not really bluegrass they are more acoustic rock(if that is a genre) give a listen.. warning for a dirty word if others are listening... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLJf9qJHR3E

here is a song from the concert. whats great about Nashville is that you never know who will show up on stage.  My favorite live band Old Crow Medicine show and Bluegrass group Cadillac sky joined in for a few songs.  It was awesome. who says acoustic or bluegrass don't rock? don't tell this crowd... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3-ksAHSkBo thats right 4 banjos and 2 mandolins

Ok, now to the really amazing part.  Rumor got out that after the show they were playing at my favorite place in the world the Station Inn.  we hurried over there and amazingly got in.  If you only knew how small of a place this is, it was great fun late late into the night. I am getting too old for this stuff. here is a clip of the night... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tjXZv4tA0M
Mumford and sons, Old Crow medicine show, Cadillac Sky and yes Dierks Bentley(his new bluegrass album is not bad) on stage together at the Station Inn from about midnight to 3 in the morning.

Mumford and Sons and The Avett brothers will be performing tonight on the Grammys with Bob Dylan.  They are not exactly bluegrass they are more americana folk alternative bluegrass(I dont really know what genre), but I really like em.  I am sure it will be the only thing worth watching so i think i will DVR it and fast forward through the other crap.
