Well, I did vaccum the upstairs and cleaned out the vaccum, and that was all grey, but I'm pretty sure thats not it, cause I washed my hands thouroughly right after. In black magic woman, there is a lot of bending, and I practiced that song for an hour and a half, nonstop bending. It might have came from the string, but i didnt notice anything 'washed off' from them

It happened again last night, and there was NO vaccuming involved. I was trying to learn some Joe Satriani.

clean your fretboard next time you change strings.

also, what brand of strings do you use?

What do you want to do tomorrow?

it might be if you are using nickel strings. I had the same problem and switched to steel.

Happens to me when I play for an extended period of time. You need to change those strings;who knows how long they've been on there and they will oxodize over time.

Also,if it is a new guitar (or even sorta new) it will have some polishing compound on the board. Rub a little lemon oil onto the fretboard and let it sit a couple minutes.wipe it off with a clean cloth and buff it a little and you'll be surprised at what comes off of it. Do that once or twice a year just to keep the board nice.
