Erm, Lyon is a whole guitar building company, owned by Washburn.. Sort of like Gibson owning Epiphone.

As Ryan says, a separate brand structure and, as I understand it, Lyon is the lower end brand. So take that as your starting premise. My daughter has a Lyon L115 - US$130 at Target. The price is about right. To me = entry level.

I'd also say this - based on personal experience, I would have spent more for a better guit as a beginner if I had it all to do over. It's easier to learn if there's some quality in there.
