NEW IDOL SHAPE
« on: January 14, 2010, 08:12:53 PM »
WHY would I buy that, when I can get a PRS SE or the Schecter Solo 6 or even a dean Soltero or an ESP EC, or a Epiphone?

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me that the ORIGINAL IDOL shape is STAYING AS WELL. If It ISN'T I will not be buying any more Washburns.

Agreed.  Serious FAIL on redesigning the Idol.  The new version looks like every other LP clone made.  I predict the beginning of the end unfortunately.

Those pics don't change my mind.  Looks like a cross between trying to an Epiphone LP and a PRS SE Singlecut.  Again, bad move on Washburn's part.  Nothing at all appealing about this new model.

If they put out a string through body model, I might be interested. Sorry guys but the neck through is a nice touch. I agree the Idol shape should remain the same, so why can't they make a neck through Idol????????

Hmm, that neck-through model is quite nice but like everybody said, suffers from being too wedded to the age-old singlecut formula. A strung through setup like Cornish Boy mentioned would help differentiate it a bit more but it's still swimming in a very big pond.

Hmm...that neck-thru isn't too bad, but I agree with Cornish Boy that I'd rather have a neck-thru original Idol...

OK, so 1 small, tiny, miniscule good quality has appeared.  20 bucks says this they'll probably sell more of this version than any of the others.

its really sad to see another les paul clone, neck thru or not. I fully realise that its all about making money but theres a lot to be said for holding your own and staying unique
