DI66 Quilt top PROTOTYPE info needed
« on: January 23, 2010, 12:15:22 AM »
I just purchased a DI66 quilt top PROTOTYPE guitar.  The top appears to be real wood and the neck is set and is made in 2 halves (glue seam up the center).  It has very odd triangle inlay fret markers.

The serial number is: 06110003

Owner stated it was a one-off PROTOTYPE guitar straight from the Washburn factory and that no one at the factory had info on it.

Does anyone have any info on this design or model?

Thanks,
Kenneth

DI stands for Damen Idol, a doublecut variation of the Idol made in 2006/2007 only.  The Damen was only available through the custom shop originally; maybe they were planning a high end import version a la the WI66 Pro?

Matisyahu's guitarist played a Damen (one of the guys from the All American Rejects did too, but I couldn't care less about them), and I always liked the shape.  I was sad to it go but from a playability standpoint the Idol already plays a lot like a doublecut in singlecut form, so I guess they figured why bother?

Thanks again for the info. After searching on Damen, I found quite a bit of info.

Does the serial number make it 0003 production of 11/06 month?
