Best String Gauge for D 46SE
« on: January 29, 2010, 05:20:40 AM »
I've been doing some experimenting with string gauges for my 2 year old Washburn D 46SE. What is everyone's favorite gauge/manufacturer? What has gotten the best tone for you? I use Cleartone 0.12s, but have only tried 0.11s other than those. Sometimes to me, even the 0.11s and 0.12s sound a little light and really rings that high E. I just dont want to buy a waste set so I wanted to feel everyone else out on their preference.

Thanks,
-Chip-

Hard to say Chip it really depends a lot on the style of music and if you use pick or finger pick and how you attack your strings.
I hope maybe this can give you some more to ponder. http://www.flatpick.com/Pages/News_And_Reviews/Gear.html#ST1

Welcome to the forum Chip. Martin acoustic SP Phosphor Bronze lights work for me, and a some folks here like D'Addario EJ16's.

D'Addario Flat Tops (EFT16's) semi-flat phosphor bronze (12-53) sound great. Warm sounding and very little finger noise. These warm up even the brightest sounding guitars and add a deep sound not found in full roundwounds.

This thread is a year old. I doubt if Chip is still around.
