mini jumbo petit
« on: February 08, 2010, 06:07:37 PM »
Any new on these yet?I'm looking forward to trying one and from the one pic i saw it resembles the gibson robert johnson L-1 without the high price.Hopefully they'll make them available in a lefty format[;)]
Does anyone know what type of woods will be used?I think it's geared towards fingerstyle/blues players and an engleman spruce top would be great fort this little beast.Feel free to chime in with any info on these little guitars.

I wouldn't buy any thing named mini-jumbo-petit,  you've got at least one (or two, whichever way you read it) lie in the name right out of the gate.

I got some fiddles, guitars,a bouzouki, a piano and some other stuff.

By the by,, I checked that link Musician's Station.  Jennifer's got a lot of work to do.  The only thing about Washburns I could find was Festivals. And got cross eyed trying to navigate around it. But they do have 59 members, 89 posts, and a whole bunch of click bait ads. Just MHO.

Yep, that's one of the ones we were discussing with Nick, when I was complaining about those ridiculous descriptions of the various body sizes.

So I'm trying to talk a friend into going on a blind date,, when he asks (and you know he will) tell me true now Rory is she fat? and I say no man I wouldn't do that to you, she's a mini-jumbo What do you think he'll say?

But to remain fair what would happen to me if I told my wife she was a jumbo-petit?  Why she'd knock the cap right offa my head sure. Unless she had started as a jumbo and had been trying to lose some weight, then I might get away with it.

(Actually I'm not married, so would one of you married guys like to tell me what would be the ramifications of you going around telling everyone your wife was a petit-jumbo or a mini-jumbo)

petit jumbo or mini jumbo is a ridiculous thing to call anything. Half of it is a lie.

Pike, it just is going a little too far at some point.

Now Washburn, what follows is just a suggestion, and you'd be on the cutting edge if you were to implement it. So Nick run it by the Big Boys and just maybe Washburn could start a trend that will work in their favor. Call it a marketing strategy or whatever. But I bet it would catch on with the musicians.

Here goes:  There is this one guitar company whose lineup for the most part is consistent with the following.

Modified 0 = tenor guitar
0 Model = parlor
00 Model = folk or sorta small
000 Model = nice average size
D Model = dreadnought
0000 Model = really big guitar
M Model = same as the really big guitar but thinner

Except for the D and M model, everything is orderly and neat. Now if we could get them to change the D and M to some 0's (and do away with that OM thing too) we'd really be making progress.

So here you go, why doesn't Washburn put out a line:

A = really little guitar
B = parlor
C = medium guitar
D = normal dreadnought
E = big guitar
F = really big guitar
E = acoustic bass guitar
F = guitar so big it needs wheels

Mini, jumbo, petit, grand, concert, folk, auditorium, advanced, super, maxi, and especially combinations of these, have become trite and meaningless.  Let's get some order and rationality in the sizing of guitars. The people who make things with batteries have done it. AA AAA C D etc, why not guitars?

See there, I've got plenty of time on my hands.
