Help with Antique Parlor Guitar!
« on: December 10, 2012, 11:04:30 AM »
I purchased this parlor guitar from an estate sale and I need help determining the age and/or model of the guitar. The pictures of the inside show the serial number. Also, Is the head stock original?

Some clearer pictures would help of the guitar and also measurements of the upper and lower bout. But looks like a 1906-1915 ( dating from the label style and colour ) I can tell you it looks like some work has been done with some cleating done to the back and also some hide glue inside so probably had a neck reset and that the tuners are not original I am thinking that it might be a model 102 3/4 ( but depending on the measurements could be a 102/202/or a 302 ) hard to count but looks like a 18 fret instrument.
So if you can post more pictures that are clearer and show more of the guitar : back of the head stock. the strip down the back, close up and the rosette and fretboard and bridge and maybe we will know for sure.ship

Ok thank you for the quick response. Unfortunately it is already dark where i live and i cannot get good enough lighting for a clear picture. Tomorrow afternoon i will take some better pictures in the light and upload them for you. And it does have 18 frets. Thank you very much!

Your guitar is a Style 115, the cheapest Washburn model made at the time, which was catalogued between 1905 and 1915. Serial number seems to be A 30XXX, which indicates an approx 1913-1914 mfg date.
