'79 Washburn Raven - sold
« on: April 21, 2010, 07:05:26 PM »
Here are the details:
Mahogany body, maple top, and a bolt-on finished mahogany neck.  (I know most had maple necks, but the grain and unfinished color sure looks like mahogany.)  It's very resonant with great sustain.  The pickups are very articulate for great clean and dirty classic rock tones, somewhere between a Les Paul and an SG.  It's extremely clean and in nice shape for its age. It has some dings, scratches, and chips here and there, and finish wear typical for a 30 year old guitar.  The fretwork is top notch, frets have hardly any wear, and the action is very comfortable.  The neck is nice and fat like a Gibson 50's profile.  Comes with original hard case, which isn't the greatest case for gigging or anything, but it does the job fine for general use and storage.

I have done some upgrades recently:

* new Grover locking tuners
* new Tusq nut
* new pots, jack, and switch
* rewired for master volume/tone (I don't really like traditional Gibson style wiring personally)
* new knobs
* frets polished, fretboard oiled

Ahh, I wish too haha!  I think it's going on ebay today...just haven't been able to generate enough interest locally.

Aweh s*** eh! I need to save my money for a road bike or a bouldering mat.. Either can get really expensive, like guitars.

I've been spending too much on gear lately too, and guilt and credit card bills got the best of me.  I definitely want another Wing Series when I can afford it though.

There's only one remedy . . . time to rock out the WI45, with beer. I'll drown my sorrows in soulful song. Speaking of which, just nailed a simple for guitar version of Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms. What a great song . . . been wanting to learn it for ages.
