Gutting a XB500
« on: June 03, 2010, 10:35:44 PM »
Hi Folks, I've had my XB500 since 1994 and after years of care and contact cleaner the electronics are finally giving up the ghost. The pots are noisy and I have various clicks and pops at the jack. I would like to replace the guts rather than replace the bass (lots of history) but no idea where to start. I am having difficulty finding info online regarding appropriate replacements for the pickups and electronics. Any input? Pickups that work well (model/size), eq's that you like. I will take any input and tips that are offered.

Thanks

Eric

What are the 4 knobs for?
the high one to the left (when playing) is volume... but wath are the other?

 view when playing:

  02   03
 01   04         01 = volume
---------|       02 = bas/trebble ?
---------|       03 = ?
---------|       04 = ?
