MG-70 US-made or import?
« on: June 13, 2010, 02:05:41 AM »
Hi all.
I live in Australia and have just purchased a well-worn (and beautiful) MG 70 and i would like to know if it's Korean made or not? There is nothing that indicates either origin- I have heard that all black head-stock MG70s were made in Korea? It has the usual gold hardware and HSS configuration with a clear pick-guard.
Serial number is: 2031770
Appreciate assistance here!
Rock on

Hi Mace and welcome to the forum. Yep your guitar made in Korea 1992, very nice guitars. If you use the search facility at the top right of the page it will bring up a fair few of previous posts on this series of guitars. Happy Hunting.

Legend!! Thanks for the heads-up! Any idea on what pickups they ran as standard? I've just bought a Fender Atomic to go into the bridge anyway- but i'm curious about the singles coils.
Thanks again

Hi again Mace, the pups were all standard Washburn on the imports, unsure of kohm on 'em but they aren't bad for stock. I've put a link to a page from a catalogue, and the Washy Archives for your year, as you can see no info on the pups except Stock.
