XB100 Pickups
« on: January 10, 2005, 04:51:39 AM »
I'm new to bass and recently bought a XB100 (natural finish), and am very happy with it, but the pickups are quite weak. Any ideas on what would be a good replacement pickup?

I have an XB102 which is the same guitar as yours, but with J-bass pickups as well as the the P-bass pickups and I agree with you completely that they are a little weak on the bottom end.  Especially for downtuned songs.  I have done some research for my own guitar, and it seems that Seymour-Duncan Quarter Pounders are the way to go.  I gathered from testimonials that these have a fat sound in the mid and low ranges and sound like Fender pickups.  Whereas the OEM Washburn pickups seem to have more of a brighter sound in the mid to high range with some bottom end.  I hope this helps you out, keep in mind that when it come to instruments, you definately get what you pay for and don't be too surprised when you see that the pickups are going to cost almost as much as a new XB100!

Hope this helps you out. Good Luck, Vent
