Washburn G6-V and KC-90 No Serial Numbers?? PICS!!
« on: August 26, 2010, 11:27:22 AM »
Hello Everyone.  This is my first post.  I just stumbled across this forum and realized I had a few un-answered questions about 2 of my guitars.  I have 2 Vintage Washburns that have no Serial Numbers or Country of Manufacture.  1 is a (84-86?) G6-V Sunburst Color and the other is a Chicago Series KC-90 (See through gold color, 1990?).  Both are close to mint condition but without serial numbers Im not sure when or where thy were made or what year they are..  Can anyone help??  Is this normal on some vintage Washburns?  Please Reply and thanks in advance for you help!  Anthony  352-398-9661

Hi, and welcome to the forum. A couple of nice looking guitars. Unsure of specs for the G6V, but have put a link to the Archives for the year 1990 for your made in Japan KC 90. I've had a few of this model, still got two, one same see through gold colour, the other red. Really nice guitars Factory fitted with S.D. pups.

Thanks for the link.  Do your 90's have serial numbers?  Has there been any re-issues of this model?  Have you ever seen any fakes out there?  Sorry for all of the questions, but I have many un-answered ones.. Thanks
anthony

Neither of my KC90s have serial numbers. OK one of them was very tired so if it was just on a sticker it would have gone but the other is in great nick.

Hi again tgsportbike1000, I've seen a few look-a-likes, but no copies (Yet) and no reissues (Wish they would) one of their best instruments IMHO.

The G6V was manufactured in the range of 1984-86.

The 1986 price lists showed it at $549.90 USD.  It's definetely a Japanese import model, but I really don't have it in any of the catalogs I have to give a ton more info on it.

Looks nice, thanks for sharing. ;)

seems odd that the 90 has a sticker serial number.

my 40 has it on the neck plate, and i have a 100 coming (should have been here today, grrrr) that looks it has it printed on the headstock, when i refinish it i'm thinking stamping it in to the headstock would be a better idea.

as ever, all depends on how much people want them and how badly people want to get rid of them!!

all depends on condition as well.

i've not seen a 90 for sale, my 100 set me back $150, but it has no original hardware in it, and the finish has some major floors, so that might not be a good guide!!

still waiting for it to arrive though!!!

tgsportbike1000, any interest in selling or trading your G-6V?

e-mail sent. Both, sale or trade would work for me just as well. If there is specific Washburn model you are looking for (comparable value to G-6V of course), chances are I have it. Thanks!
