Need some XB400 help
« on: November 08, 2010, 07:38:51 PM »
Just posted something similar in another forum on here, but I just found out that I'm looking at a Bantam bass.  I need as much info as I can get on a bass I have a chance to buy.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to look at it on Wednesday.  My buddy says it's a XB400 TBU. He says it looks to be in good shape.  The guy selling it bought it about 10 years ago and never really played it.  This will be my first bass, so I want something decent to learn on.

He's asking $250 for it.  It also comes with an amp (says he gave $100 for it), case, tuner and metronome.

If it's a good bass and a good price, I'll trade the amp up to something better hopefully.

Any info you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

Did you go for it? I've bought three XBs for about $150 each (two 400 & a 500), & greatly enjoy 'em. Though others have had problems, I was impressed with the active pickup system. I haven't played out in 25 years, so when I filled in for a show I was surprised at how well-balanced the instrument is -- I put in three hours & felt no back fatigue.
