Seeking Banjo Info
« on: June 14, 2003, 03:18:52 PM »

I'm looking for information on my banjo. It is a 5-string Washburn #4087. No resonator, lots of inlay, engraving and carving at the base of the neck. I'd like to know how old it is and ballpark value. Thanks in advance!

Holly,

You might try looking at the elderly instruments web site (www.elderly.com).   they deal in lots of used instruments.... when I was in a similar situation as you I filled out the online appraisal form (http://www.elderly.com/cgi-bin/elderly/evalform.pl) and got a preliminary report back in a couple or three days....

Good luck.

Holly,

I responded to your email with the link.   It was also included in my original post.

Good luck.

Eric,
Thank you so much for the link. I spoke with Stan and found out my banjo was made in the 1890's and worth over $2000 retail. I'll definitely keep it now that I have some info.
