Pickup wiring for my 80's Washburn strat
« on: September 26, 2010, 06:43:36 PM »
Hi guys. I need to know what color wire goes to the 5-way switch...and does the other color wire just get clipped' and not used...or is it grounded. There is also a naked silver wire comming of the wiring harness for the pickups,as well. There are a total of 3 wires comming off each single coil pickup(white,red...and the naked silver one.)Thanks!

I have Lyon of the same model, albeit heavily modified.  I have replaced the neck and bridge pickups with Seymour Duncan SHR-1s, so I may be mistaken.

I believe the red wire went to the switch, and the bare was a ground. On the neck and middle pickups, the white went to the potentiometers(tone). On the bridge, I think the white went to the volume pot.  It's been a few months(almost a year for the bridge pickup) since I have inspected my wiring, so if I were you, I would do some research before attempting this.
