Been taking a little time off . . .
« on: December 17, 2010, 08:26:39 PM »
for the last few months.  Catching up on work, haven't really been playing much.  But I've been thinking about what I want to do next year.  My new years resolution for the last ten years has been to quit smoking.  And I did that this year.  I haven't had a cigarette since 1-4-10.

So I was thinking this might be a good time to start back on lessons.  CB has a kick ass teacher who REALLY knows what he's doing.  Thought I might give him a shot.  I've been listening to a lot of blues/jazz lately, and I'm thinking that's the direction I'd like to go.  I've spent the last week listening to Bonamassa's Live at the Royal Albert Hall, and I enjoy it, but I'm still more of an acoustic guy.

I think I need to learn the fretboard first.  But I need  to  combine that with some fun stuff.

Input, suggestions, tell me to go to hell?

First off, you should work on getting your G.E.D. - Geetar Every Day!!!  If you need a stool with special padding and camo cover, let me know.  Actually I'm finding it more comfortable than sitting in a chair...

Good to see you back Shiner

Guitars, I have a few - but then again, too few to mention

Shiner, I think you have already been through hell. Now you are in a better place with a guardian angel by your side (CB).

Welcome back, Merry Christmas, and a Happy and prosperous New Year to you both.

Howdy, Shiner!

I'm all for taking lessons....CB once posted a thread regarding what the guitar teacher had her doing and I responded that she was learning to play the guitar, not just songs on the guitar.  To understand the theory and how to implement it on the guitar must be a very valuable blessing!

As for telling you to go to hell.....I'd a hell of a lot rather tell you to go to Pearl [:D] (maybe February????)!!!

Cheers and congratulations to both you and CB on kicking the nicotine habit from.....

Hey Shiner...I've been playing the crap outta my guitar lately but haven't been on the boards here much.  I've considered some lessons too, I'd like to get a little more advanced in the Chet Atkins branch of the pickin' tree.

Congrats on kicking the smoking habit...I quit way back in '96 or so.  Given some time and a few dozen packs of Twizzlers I got to where I don't miss 'em at all!
