Pickups in my Washburn
« on: January 07, 2011, 11:43:29 AM »
Hello folks,
I am writing from Brasil. I own two Washburns - a WR154 and a X50Q model. My WR154 I replaced the pickups for a brasilian custom made pickup manufacturer, which has been doing a great job. But my newly X50Q, great guitar, came with a Head Hunter pick up EL921/EL923. So, what is this? Please, any info will be appreciated.
Mauro

I have talked to Washburn Official Distributor in Brasil, Pro-Shows Co. and a very polite CSR has told me HEad Hunter is the Korean version of Randall pickups. They seem to me a high gain pickup, specially in a humbucking mode.
Anyway, I think this is a very melodic guitar. I own a Tagima 735 - a brasilian strato guitar -  and Washburn really makes sound pleasant. I hope someone can confirm/discuss my topic.
Rgs,

Mauro

I also think these are a high gain pup. i am quite sure there are much higher & lower out there. but for me these are fine. I may be wrong but in MHO, I was going to trade my X50 on a Fender 70's series from 2002, but when i compared the two,the X50 is of better quality. so I will keep my X50. I could go on about the differences, but I don't like to dog other people's products. Tom.

Well said Tom. I think X50 is a great product. I wonder trying a semi ac. version. Mauro
