Pickup Heights

Is there an ideal, or factory setting for the heights of p/u away from the strings(on a WI-64)? Or is it just a personal preference based on the sound you're looking for? Thanks.[:)]

I've been around electric guitars working in a music store and adjusting the height of the pick-ups wasn't something that needed constant adjusting.  The closer the pick-up is to the string the stronger the magnetic field the viberating string will moving through.  Balance of volume from the top to bottom string is factory set.  I've never l
had to adjust pick-up heigth for individual strings.......janeguitar.com

There is not a factory set that I know of but I am sure there was some rule.  Many of these guitars use Duncans and SD has some recommended starting point.  I think most folks leave buckers flat across, but you can adjust to string height across all strings.  Some people do that as well.
