FS: WI67Pro Quilted maple Tobacco burst
« on: February 13, 2011, 02:39:38 PM »
I am the first and only owner, purchased new in 2005, and barely played. No issues with finish, hardware, electronics, neck, or fret. Basically like new.

Will ship in a form-fitted Epiphone hardshell case.

Asking $550 plus half of shipping to CONUS. Paypal preferred.

New to the forum, and not sure how to post pics, but here's
the link to my photobucket pics.

Please note that any blemishes on the guitar are the result of my poor photography.  The only ding is a small dent in the headstock, bottom edge which is not visible.  Other than that, no issues.

The pics show straplocks, however these have been removed, and the guitar will ship to the new owner with the factory strap buttons.

I'm gonna chime in here. I own a -67, 2003 build. This is a 2004. Both from Korea (same handwriting on the label!)

My guitar is fantastic in every regard, build quality, neck, versatility. I recently purchased a -66, also Korean built, specifically to compare the two. 66 was also a great guitar. The indication is that these are the same guitar except for the cavity and the f-hole. That is not the case. My guitar was NOTABLY heavier and thicker bodied than the -66. Additionally, the -66's have a maple veneer (flame or quilt) but the -67 is in fact a quilt cap, carved top. If you were to measure the thickness of the cap through the f hole, you'll see that it's a bit less than .300 thick towards the outer edge of the guitar, and towards the center of the body where I could put a caliper on it, it's approx. .340 thick.

Who cares?

Well the relevance is that, for those in pursuit of LP tone, which many are, mass matters. Combine an awesome mahogany set neck, with a dense mahogany body and THICK hard maple cap, Seymour Duncan 59 and Custom Custom p'ups, 24.75 scale length etc...this is a GREAT guitar for the price.

And thankfully, it's tobacco burst, not cherry burst, which many of these are. Personally, I don't care for the cherry burst I've seen in photos.

Other interesting facts: only 997 WI-67's were ever made, and of those, 308 have this finish. Factor all that in, and I think it's a find.

Cheers

Wow!  Thank you, Tio Kimo, for the photo tutorial and the wonderful WI-67Pro endorsement! It truly is a great guitar, one I felt I was going to hang on to for a long time, but alas, times change and this one doesn't get the love it deserves.  It is my hope that it finds its' way into the hands of someone more competent who will enjoy her like she's meant to be enjoyed.  My guitarists (one is strictly a Les Paul guy, the other a PRS guy)have both given this guitar praise for build quality, tone, and killer looks.  I am but a mere bassist, so I defer to them.  Please give her a new home!  If any of you have questions, please PM me.  I'll be happy to answer as accurately and honestly as I can!

Once again, thanks for the wonderful welcome to the Washburn forums!

Oh my God, I want that! But my daughter says I can have it only if I quit smoking. Hmmm.

Quit smoking and you can have the tobacco burst instead...sort of like a six-string nicotine patch!  :)

Oh man...just got my hands on a nice tube amp and played the WI-67 through it today...WOW!!!  What a difference.  It was being played through a Line 6 amp prior, but through the tube amp, the VCC came alive!  Act quickly...I may have to pull this ad!

Morguedoc,

I'm still drooling and coveting but, unfortunately, it's just not the right time for me to do this. Too much other stuff going on.

cedwards,
I hear you...I'm in no rush to sell.  If you're seriously interested, please PM me and I'd be more than happy to try and work something out.  This is a very special guitar to me, and one I had intended to keep for a long time when I initially purchased it in 2005.  Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen, but I'd love to see it go to someone who knows what she's worth!
Thanks for looking,
MD71
