Bare Knuckle PU's in N series?
« on: September 16, 2010, 08:28:06 AM »
Hey...Saw someone selling an N4 that they switched out the Bill Lawrence for a Bare Knuckle Holydiver PU.
Was wondering if anyone here has replaced their BL bridge PU with any of the Bare Knuckle products and what your thoughts might be on this replacement??
From what I can tell Bare Knuckle makes some baaaaad assed PU's.
Although they seem a bit more pricey than Duncans and dimarzios.
Interested in hearing your thoughts...
Thanks

Yea knew they were handmade in Uk...
Was more interested in if anyone uses them in a N series ...
To see which BN model they chose...and what they thought of it?

mrfstop...I wish I knew something about BK pups but you have the right idea, man...:)  After 14 years, I was done with the Bill Lawrence 90s telephonic tone and so I swapped the pups for some John Suhrs... the best move I ever made too...warm and vintage.  I wish you success !

Thanks Riff....Will look into info on the John Suhrs...
I like the BL pu for the moment...But can see wanting more in the future.
I am so happy with the new Pu's I Just had put into my Rich Bich!!
I went with the new Dimarzio Petrucci pickups..
Dimarzio Crunchlab in the bridge...and Liquifire in the neck...
They are a matched set and have an amazing sound and tonal range, played clean or dirty.
Think I might slap a set of these in my Rich Mockingbird also.

man that sounds great..I really would like to hear Petrucci's new pickups in an N4..if you can manage it, it'd be great to hear some clips with your new setup [|)]

Hey riffrob....
If I get a chance will try to get it recorded and get clip on someplace...
I just had a SD 59 put in my Washburn N24 this afternoon....an improvement over the stock PU for sure.....much more N4 sounding....
I am thinking I still like the sound of the petrucci dimarzios better than this BL and 59 set up.....Personally speaking...hahaha

Hi mrfstop.

I've got a calibrated set of Bare Knuckle VH2's in my N4.  I can't compare them to the L500/59 as they were already fitted when I bought it.  I think they sound great, really well balanced and give a great fat sound.  Compared to my kh-602 (EMG 81) and Kramer (JB sh4) the Bare Knuckle sound the best by a mile.  If you search youtube for black n4 you'll find a video of mine. hope this helps.

Walters.

Which Suhrs did you go with? I have been looking at the Suhrs myself, they seem to sound incredible.
