I did it again...a new Washburn WC150SW
« on: February 11, 2012, 10:37:12 PM »
It seems I've done it again...I've purchased a WC150SW classical guitar!   It has a solid sitka spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides.  It won't be here until next week.  Looking forward to that!  Here is a pic...

Arrgh!  I'm still waiting for the guitar.  It's on its way, but got a slow start in the initial ship.  Took 4 business days...yuck.  That's one strike... ::) :(

Looks real good, Mark!

Looks like you get the nice Washburn head (great shape!!) and the good tuners that came on my C124SWK...I was quite impressed that Washburn invested the $$ in decent machine heads.

I think you'll particularly like the rosette...if it is exactly like mine, there are bits of either MOP/Abalone (or turquoise??) inlaid into the inner and outer circles...it's a good look!

Of course, no classical with any self-respect would come with strap buttons...I honestly wish the lutherie on my C124SWK wasn't so nice, I've so far done without fittings for a strap just b/c I don't want to bugger up all that nice woodworking!

Looking forward to the photos!!

Cheers, and happy NGD SOON!!!

Gentlemen, it's here.

What a beauty!  Nice resonance. Low end is robust, mids are characteristic for the spruce and mahogany, and highs are crisp and sweet!  There are more "layers" to the sound than my C104SCE for sure.  I confess I do like it very much!  Fit and finish is very nice.  String height is a bit high for my taste, but easily remedied.  She is easy to play and feels very comfortable to my hands.  She is also a good bit lighter than the C104SCE.  The 104 is built like a tank -- and the sound suffers from it, I think.  I've mentioned before how thick the top is.  But this WC150SW resonates as you play; you can feel the sound all around.  I am very much impressed!  Here are some pics...

I believe she's definitely a keeper!! :) :) 8)

Another pic of the tuners.  I believe these are a higher quality tuner...

Dugly, I do love the rosette.  It does have the turquoise inlays along with a "pearl" effect of the center colors of the inner rosette ring.  It changes with the light.  Very nice!

Yes, I will record it and post later...

In my joy to receive the guitar and play it, I have overlooked one thing that seems amiss...did any of you notice it?  I wonder what Nick has to say about it? :-\

How did that get out without the logo?!!?!?  That's interesting.

That is a beautiful git mcloud.  Making my GAS for my next git that much worse, especially since I'll have the money to buy it in a few days.

I sent a message to Nick, but don't know when I'll hear from him.  He stays pretty busy, which is understandable.  I did check the website, and noticed a strange thing.  If you select the WC160SW (the WC150SW isn't shown anymore), you see the emblem; if you select the WC160SWCE, the emblem disappears!!  It is also absent from the C104SCE.  Hmmm ???  Maybe they have two necks to use...one for the cutaways and one for the non-cutaways and they got mixed up?

Strange. :-\

I noticed that too.  Seems strange they'd omit the logo from one line, but none of the others.

Nick does seem to be busy.  He answered a question for me in the Announcements forum, which I answered immediately with another question, but haven't gotten a response on the second one.

Well, I contacted  the seller, and he says that all of the new classical guitar headstocks are that way -- no Washburn logo.  He assures me it is an authentic Washburn product and carries the full warranty, so that's good news.  Strange how they advertise showing the logos.  Just marketing?
