Well, both luthiers/techs did not like the way the neck connected to the guitar - if that isn't a warranty issue, I'm not sure what would be.  Basically, the saddle cannot be made lower than it is because of this.

Being as it is a holiday weekend, I did a "contact us" on the Washburn web site and hope to hear from them early next week.

I'm bummed.

If this is a warranty issue, I hope you bought from a authorized dealer.  So far I have only heard good things about Washburn warranty claims.   Tom.   :)

I sure hope Musician's Friend is an authorized dealer ... wouldn't that be a jolt if they aren't!  I think then I'd have a fancy planter or piece of wall art since I couldn't in good conscience sell this one to anyone knowing what I know about it.

In an ideal world of my making, Washburn would authorize a replacement based on the Sam Ash tech's assessment that I have a dud.  I should be THAT lucky.

It is good to know that Washburn warranty has a positive reputation.

Also good for you is MF is a authorized dealer. Plus I bought a Marshall half stack from them, it had a corner were the Tolex was coming lose, and they paid shipping, and sent another one, fast.   Tom.   :) :)

Well, I contacted MF about this and all they did was say "I'm sorry" you took too long to complain and then suggested I take it up with Washburn.  So we aren't friends at the moment.

I called them , MF,  20min after I got the amp head  and 4X12 cab. That might have something to do with my results.  Tom.   :)

Knowing what I do now, I certainly should have called them right away.  Too bad the thing wasn't damaged in shipping - it might have been easier for me to spot.

MF and I still aren't friends, though.  ;D  I wonder how much stuff is shipped out that is inferior and people just don't know enought to react?  Smacks of poor quality control somewhere in the distribution scheme.  Another point for buying at local stores, I would guess.

MF is not friends of many folks here on the Washy forum.  It seems as if a high percentage of MF customers (former?) were not happy with the customer service.

I use Sweetwater.  Never a problem.  Always excelent service.  Maybe a few cents higher, but always free shipping.  I've returned several items with never a problem.  My salesman often calls to make sure I really wanted what I ordered and didn't make a typo in the order.  ("You really want 6 string winders?"  "Yeah, that way I might be able to find ONE!!")  I've ordered a few instruments---all in great condition.  Sweetwater has a check list for new instruments and it seems as if they follow it.  On the more expensive instruments they have several pictures of the actual instrument.......you order the one you want by serial number.

I agree, I would rather pay 20.00 or 30.00 more for a guitar. And be able to play and look it over. Around here it is all Fender, Guild, Taylor,Martin,Dean, Seagull,O.S. and not so good used guitars.  So I have to order online. If you go to one of the stores,  the only Washburn's they have are the WV40, and WM24, I traded them. But lots of O.S.'s.  Tom.   :)

Just so you know, the Washburn folks are arranging warranty replacement.

Yay for them.

Washburn would replace the guitar under warranty but Musician's Friend wouldn't help....
Make a complaint, in writing asking them why.
Don't ever accept s**t service.
If they treat you like a dog and get away with it, the future expectation is that they can treat everyone like that.
