Help with identification
« on: May 29, 2012, 06:47:47 PM »
Hello all,
I was recently given a 12-string acoustic/electric Washburn Tanglewood in pristine condition. I am not familiar with the model at all. The inside has the Washburn stamp, followed by the word Tanglewood - 12. There is a number before the stamp which is 612003 and what looks like an E before the numbers, though it is difficult to distinguish. There is also a number on the inside where the neck meets the base, which is 510165. I have googled all these numbers and the model and haven't gotten far.. it is a deep brown color with cream edging and two cream stripes up the back. I will post a picture as soon as I can but I literally just broke my computer today. Any help with what kind of guitar this is and what its worth would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Here is some info on your Tanglewood.  Pictures will be very helpful.
EA45 TANGLEWOOD
- similar to EA44 except has a deep body, available in Natural or Tobacco Sunburst finish, mfg. 1979-
1985, 1987-89, 1992-94.
Grading 100% Excellent Average
N/A $525 - 600 $350 - 400
Last MSR was $1,150.
This model was introduced three separate times, so the description may vary a bit. It is one of the three original Festival guitars and did not have the EA45 designation until the mid-1980s. In 1987, the EQ300 electronic system was introduced with sliders instead of knobs, and the guitar was only known as the EA45. In 1992, the Equis II electronic system was introduced, and the guitar was known as both the Tanglewood and EA45.
