Rare Washburn guitar?
« on: September 08, 2012, 09:23:04 PM »
I was at a garage sale and bought what I think is a 1986 Washburn G-23V with the Jackson style head stock. I did a search for 1986 Washburn catalogs and a page off of this forum came up. It stated that,ā€In 1985, a new line of Force models were introduced (G5V, G10V, and G20V), and they featured more original appointments with no pickguard, and a hockey stick-style headstock. These were produced approx. until 1986. The third series of Force guitars debuted around mid-1986. Models G23 and G40V are rumored to have existed, but they don't appear in any catalog. In the 1987 catalog, the full line of the new Force guitars were listed and they had a pointy Jackson-style headstock and the only resemblance to a Strat was the body shape. These models included a G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G8, G15, and G Junior. This series was replaced by the KC series in 1989.ā€ The link is below. I would be more than willing to send any pics or info you need. The serial # is K863279. It has three single coil (strat style) pickups, the wonder bar bridge (mostly intact) that is missing a couple of screw caps and tremolo bar. It has a cream color with what looks like a pearl clear on it. It has a really cool sound, kind of like a slide guitar. I payed only $50 for it so no matter what Iā€™m keeping. Thanks for any info.   and G40V are rumored to have existed, but they don't appear in any catalog.
