W136 Pickguard Removal
« on: September 16, 2012, 09:36:02 PM »
Just got my first ever Washburn guitar and I already have a question, so I thought I'd check out this forum for an answer.

Anyone know an easy way to remove the pickguard on a W136 (Tele Idol)?  I bought a used W136 yesterday and I've got it all set up nice, but I want to adjust the height of the neck pickup and I can't figure out how to remove the pickguard without removing the neck....  The fretboard hangs over the end of the neck enough that I can't get the pickguard off and it really seems like I might need to remove the neck to adjust the neck pickup. But there's gotta be an easier way - right?

Okay, since I didn't get any other ideas I just went ahead and removed the neck to adjust the neck pickup.  A little awkward, but it was the only way.

By the way, I really like this guitar.  It's light, has a really comfy neck, nice tuners (Grover 18:1), and it sounds nice.  Only mod I'm planning is to change one pot connection, so the tone pot only controls the bridge pickup.  That way I can roll off the highs and not muddy up the neck pickup.

Glad you got it figured out, as I had no idea.    Tom.   :)
