JR. I live on a creek, or by it I should say. I got bit by a Brown Recluse spider some 10 or so years ago. I keep 4 or 5 big Camel crickets in my house, you rarely see them. And they love to eat spiders. My friends think it is crazy, but I can not get quite brave enough to let a male Tarantula run loose in here.   Tom.    :) I think I would have a heart attack if I woke up and a giant spider was in bed with me. LOL.

Where do you get Camel Crickets, Tom?  Do they require any care other than a ready source of food.  I have a family home that I get to visit very infrequently and I need some way to keep the spider population down.  So far I have found that hedgeapples (Osage Orange) work very well, but this next year it will be over 15 months between visits and I can't expect them to last that long.

Thanks!

They live about 4 yr.   none of these pics do my 2 big males justice. I know they got into a fight a few months ago, as I found a back leg on the bathroom floor. and one of they big guys is minus a leg. And they make no noise. Living on a creek in a 100 year old church building,  there is no end to there food supply. LOL.    T.K.  are you saying we will chirp about anything?   LOL.    Tom.    :)

no, I'm acknowledging Jr.s point that there is no talk about Banjo's or mandolin's but a soundtrack of Chirps is catalyst for a discussion on the predatory habits of various varieties of crickets....
