Washburn Bowlback Mandolin
« on: December 18, 2012, 07:10:15 PM »

I'm trying to gather some info on a Washburn bowl-back mandolin that is for sale for approx. USD 150.00. The label that can be seen through the sound hole has a number stamped on it which is 17427 and the circular red ring that makes up the border of the label has writing that states:- HIGHEST AWARD AT WORLD'S COLUMBIAN (this next word could be EXHIBITION but is covered by a string), CHICAGO 1893 and the bottom half of the border reads:- GOLD MEDAL AND DIPLOMA OF HONOUR, ANTWERP 1894.
Any info regarding this instrument and advice regarding value would be much appreciated.
