Need help finding hard case for 2002 WI64 and tec help
« on: May 13, 2013, 03:11:55 PM »
New to this forum i just bought a 2002 WI64 from pawn shop in good condition. But didn't come with a case and would like to get one for it but can't find one. Did some research  and for that year the case was a GC40 but can't find that case. Also string don't line up right over pick ups they are off to the right side a little. I'm just starting to learn how to play guitar and just learning all the ins and outs of the set up. Is this normal it still sounds good just looks funny. How would i get them to line up right over the pick ups. Don't want to screw anything up. Didn't notice this until I got it home and started to really give it a good look over. Got it for a Bill and a quarter.

Hello Gringoloco361,

Welcome to the Washburn forum...

is the neck straight or warped?  Are the humbuckers original to your guitar or are they upgraded?  It is hard to diagnose without pictures, like they say a picture paints a thousand words.

Can you post some pictures...  (my suggestion is use photo web hosting site, and then link pictures in your post).  Take picture of whole guitar from front face, from the body towards neck emphasis on the bridge, and vice versa (neck to body emphasis on nut neck)

I use Photobucket, I suggest resize pictures to max length less than 1000pixel

Your welcome Gringoloco361,

I am more capable with minor mods than playing with my guitars...  I guess I'm more of a collector...  I think the alignment of string over the pole of humbucker are not rigid like they need to be exact..  as long as the magnets sense the strings then it's good...  But honestly, it would bother me to no end, and I am guessing they didn't align the humbucker cavity correctly.  just my 2 cents..  Nice acquisition.

THANKS FOR YOUR TWO CENTS psp742,

Yea it still drives me nuts too, not being right over the poles of the humbuckers. I'M some what of a perfectionist when it comes to things being where there suppose to  b and not working or looking how there meant to. So this is going to bother me till I get it looking right. I will have to brake it down and check the humbucker cavity to see if thats the prob or something else. None the less I want it PERFECT LIKE it SHOULD B. Will let u know the outcome as soon as I breaker her down for a look see. Thanks for your two cents. :) All cents is thoroughly appreciated, Especially when I'm kinda cents less ( LOL )  :-\ when it comes to all this stuff. Until next time, much thanks will also try to put some pics of cavity when i getter open
UNTIL NEXT TIME ROCK ON GRINGOLOCO361

Gringoloco361, i don't know if you are inclined to change the humbuckers... but if you are maybe you should try Dragonfire Phat Screamers - 17.5k bridge and 8.8k neck (ceramic)

i had it installed in my Washburn Maverick BTM mini, they are cool

with Phat pole piece it it impossible for strings not to be within the top of the poles

For the case, you could get a case custom built, or you get cases that have un-cut foam in them, to cut to your own specs.

The pickups, I'd leave. Too much hassle for something that makes zero difference. To move them in line you'll need to unscrew, fill screw holes, possible remove p/ups and route the cavity slightly, drill new holes, and then adjust the pickguard accordingly. Lots of guitars have pole alignment 'issues' but they're left like that because it really doesn't matter. You should be too busy rockin' to notice anyway  ;)

I hate when things are not lined up rite myself.   For me it was a line on a amp nob.  It showed about a 1/4 turn,  at all the way over.  But hey, that is part of being human.  Tom.  :)
