Festival Millenium EA-20 Question
« on: July 24, 2013, 05:07:59 PM »

I own an EA-20 Festival Millenium - the models that were of a limited run back in 2000.  Mine is blonde in color.  Does anyone know if this limited run had solid tops or lammy tops?  I can't find information about this for this particular limited edition anywhere online.

Also - has anyone had any experience in replacing the Equus pre-amps out of EA-20's in general? I'm thinking of going with an L.R. Baggs, but does anyone know if there is a more modern preamp that would fit the Equus routing without needing to make many mods?

Many thanks for your help  :)

welcome to the Washburn forum...  i am not aware of any special run in 2000 for Festival series EA20...  but since i am not an authority in the matter i can't claim otherwise..  is there a paper with model name and serial number label inside the oval sound hole?  my 1990 has one.  Since you mention 2000, i may be in the Washburn history of manufacture section -  look under 2000...  there are no picture but i speculate your EA20 could be a SDL... - in the 2001 Catalog the EA20SDL has yellow orange hue.

whatever your Festival EA20 is, i think she is a good acoustic electric.  I haven't thought of upgrading the preamp on my EA20B, because the Equis II is still working fine...  just change the stock Washburn chrome tuners to Grover 18:1 black tuners and now they are solid.

gotta go practice.

Hey Ric -

Thanks for your response.  This was a limited run - only 300 were made.  I want to assume that they used solid tops for this limited run, given that the other EA-20 models that year had solid spruce tops.
