MBXA Bass? Any info on these?
« on: October 05, 2013, 12:57:13 AM »
Just had a go on an mbxa bass.  Looks just like an mb8 bass but with jazz pickups.  I can't see any info on the web about it.  Or any images.   I have a chance to buy it.  It sounded good although action was really high.  Anyone have any info on these?  It says MBXA on the rod cover on the headstock.  I am in the UK.  Thanks in advance.

Early 1990's , Status jazz pickups. I know an owner of one and he told also told me, "It's the only Washburn bass that has a jack in the front instead of in the edge side for many years. The only problem is that the neck was not covered with any finish that make it fragile to climate abuses. I don't know what's wood is made of but surely not swamp ash as it's really heavy...".

He likes it very much. His serial number begins with an "S".  I think that refers to either Samick or Singapore??

'S' is for Samick... usually Washburn MiK are by Samick..  but due to competition and cost, Samick opened a factory in Indonesia.
