I know you guys. ;)
« on: December 29, 2013, 03:18:45 PM »
Wow. I just stopped in here (after many years) and just look at all the familiar names! How many are still around from the good (lol) old days?

I've been keeping busy... lots of guitar building and such. What have you guys been up to? Everyone still nuts? :)

Glad you dropped in to say hi.  Very nice.  A few of the old gang still hangs out.  Bit quieter, but far more civil than the old days.

Strum is huge on photography these days and has been getting deserved kudos on his art.

Dread, we still watch.  ;)

Pike! Hey buddy. :) No, I haven't seen ol' Strummy around the net anywhere. Does he still frequent this bar?

... and I'm gonna finish that dread one of these days too. :)  lol

Hey, here's a cool memory of this forum from so many years ago. If I remember right (sometimes I do, sometimes I don't) CB and Shiner either started playing or got back into it around the same time and I thought it was just awesome how you guys were playing and studying together. Inspirational... and something of a forum hallmark to me. :)

Bummer... (probably explains the "quieter".)

Yes, you remember right. Shiner played in college, got interested again, and got me involved by learning  songs I loved and playing them for me.  I have learned to sight read guitar; I think I'd be able to really accomplish/progress if my work schedule and professional ambitions didn't hamper my practice time. I have an exceptional teacher.  I am currently working on Ronnie Montrose's Rock Candy, Heart's intro to Crazy on You and Scorpion's  No One Like You. I like to play lead.  Shiner and I are an awesome duo.

I really think that's awesome CB. You guys have a "guitar spirit" that I think some people miss.

Hey... there's Dugly! Great to see you too bud. :)

Rocket my man. How goes it son? Ya want to see some tinkle huh? lol  I wasn't planning on relieving myself but I had an interesting exchange with a guy who's badly misrepresenting a Washburn on ebay yesterday. Just for kicks... does anyone know if we have a "Carter" from LA on here?

Not that I have seen Dreadman, I try not to look at Ebay Washburns some of them are ridiculous the pricing and the listings are extremely entertaining at best. ship

You can say that again Ship. I don't understand why but it seems the most deceptive used guitar ads involve Washburns. This guy's claiming that his D21 is a Martin D28 copy! When I politely pointed out the difference he threw a fit. Going on and on about how he's 60 years old, been in a "gazillion" studios and traveled the world playing music so therefore I must have an ulterior motive for my lying!... and get this - while schooling me he pointed out that laminate vs. solid makes no difference whatsoever.

So anyway guys... how are the new owners doing? Any better than the previous?

Hey Dread.....nice to see you around these parts again.  I visit occasionally myself.  I play mostly lap steel these days though I sometimes play my Washburn HB32.
