Need help identifying a guitar
« on: January 02, 2014, 05:59:57 PM »
Hello Folks. I'm new here, so I don't know how things work yet, but here's my question for you. I have just won a nice looking guitar on ebay, but the seller doesn't know much about it, except that it's a 1994 model. From the photos of it, it's a festival series guitar with a spruce top and mahogony back and sides, with rosewood fretboard and bridge. There are two numbers on the neckblock, one is 94868, and the other appears to be 161 or 181. can anyone throw any light on which model/country of origin please? Here is the link to the original listing. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/washburn-electro-acoustic-guitar-high-cutaway-pro-model-seen-on-telly-/151195557496?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageNam.
Thanks in anticipation
Bertie.

Welcome, that is a nice looking Festival there. There are a few guys on here that own one like yours. So you will get help. I keep looking in the stores around here,  I wish I could find a nice used one like that. Very nice find.   Tom.  :)

Thanks Tom, I can't Wait for it to arrive. If it's as good as my EA21 I'll be a very happy bunny!

There are post on here about guys making those Chiclet saddles out of bone, and other things they have done.  Tom.  :)

After a quick route round the forum, there are at least  three of the same model guitars on here with people asking for help identifying them, all without labels inside, all with Washburn tuners (not Grovers), all with chiclet bridge saddles, and all with EQ 300 preamps. Nobody seems to know the answer, but so far, my internet trawling is leading me to believe that they may just be EA 30 models. Incidentally, all of the guitars on here have very short serial numbers and an extra three digit number, which could indicate a limited run. If anyone knows any different please  put me straight as it's doing my box in.
Cheers for looking, and/or helping.

£180.00! You lucky git! If I'd seen the guitar advertised I'd have been in the auction for it and one of us would have paid a lot more!! :)

It does indeed look like the same beastie apart from the maple back and sides. Thanks for that.
