Washburn model identification
« on: January 04, 2014, 01:03:18 PM »
Can anybody help me identify my guitar. I am looking to sell it but have no idea what model it is. On the head stock the following is written: Wasburn Mercury II Series. On the back of the body there is a plate with a serial number: 3120558.

Please click on the folllwing link for a photo.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Bazobrien,

This is what I goggled - http://www.harmonycentral.com/t5/Electric-Guitars/Washburn-Mercury-II/td-p/21313484, but it doesn't look anything like your guitar.

In VintageWashburn.com the Mercury Series (MG) http://www.vintagewashburn.com/Electrics/Mercuryelectric.html, contains pictures of most Mercury Series model... My best educated guess is your Washburn electric guitar is a MG 74.

This is a video of Washburn Mercury II MG700 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbaiPtwjnoc, looks similar to your HSS Mercury II.

What do your think?

The first digit of the SN on the import MG's is the date code so it's a 93 MG 700.
